Kangaroo runs high in protein and low in fat, which is a useful combination for a treat that gets handed out twenty times in a training session. Dogs carrying extra weight get the flavor without much of the load. Dogs on a fat-restricted diet get an option their vet will usually sign off on.

Is kangaroo hypoallergenic for dogs?
Our kangaroo jerky and Kanga Bites are, in the sense the word carries here: one novel protein, nothing else on the panel. Almost no American dog has eaten kangaroo, so there is nothing for the immune system to react to yet. Note that our kangaroo topper is a different product, built on kangaroo but also containing salmon. That is a fact about the ingredient list rather than a promise about your dog, and a dog eating kangaroo for long enough can still develop a sensitivity. Can puppies eat kangaroo treats?
Kangaroo is a normal red meat and suits most puppies old enough for solid treats. Break the strip down to a size the puppy can manage and check with your vet if the puppy is already on a prescription diet.
How is kangaroo different from beef?
Kangaroo is leaner than most cuts of beef and carries a stronger, gamier flavor. The bigger difference for a sensitive dog is exposure. Beef is one of the most commonly reported food allergens in dogs. Kangaroo is one of the least.
